How it began
I've always been a big fan of beer and old vehicles, so, in the summer of 2022 the idea of building a tap truck was born. I turned to the internet to find the right truck, and boy did I ever. One look at Big Red and I knew... that classic design, the flat bed, the color, and that front end sold me. I rented a trailer days later and off I went. A few hours later and I was the proud owner of a 1948 Chevy 3800 and on my way back to West Virginia. July and August were spent making plans, ordering parts, twisting wrenches, and busting knuckles. In a few short months, which seemed to fly by, Big Red Tap Truck was brought to life.

In 1948, General Motors introduced a new line of Chevrolet truck design models, and these trucks ended up setting new design trends across the entire industry. The 1948 Chevy truck designs were so popular that they remained fairly unchanged, besides the front grille, through 1954. The 1948-1953 Chevrolet truck models became a timeless design, which most people picture when they think of a classic truck. GM called the 1948 Chevrolet truck model lineup the “Advance-Design", which were at the forefront of the industry in post-war improvements. Chevrolet’s “Advance-Design” trucks were also termed the “Thriftmaster” and “Loadmaster” series. Big Red being the former, a Chevrolet 3800 "Thriftmaster" flat bed (1 ton pickup).

We are based in the Kanawha Valley near Charleston, West Virginia. With easy access to I-64, I-77, and I-79, we are ready to serve our home state, West Virginia.
